Here are a few reminders. Coaches, please inform your players. Umpires have been reminded as well. This is to keep everyone on the same page.
NO JEWELRY - This includes the umpires.
Homeruns are: Mens A division = 7; B division = 5; C division = 3; and Womens = unlimited
No run rule for the women.
Mens run rule is 15 after 4 and 10 after 5.
A new inning cannot start after 50 minutes of play. Games can end in a tie.
Game can/will start with 8 players, there is a 10 minute grace period to field at least 8 but this is part of their playing time. It is important to start the games (especially the 5:45 game) on time; otherwise its hard to finish the 2nd one, especially when the teams are going from OL4 to XL or other fields.
NO alcohol in the dugouts.

It needs to be brought to everyone's attention (so please pass this on to all your players) that you are not allowed to use metal cleats. The following excerpt was taken directly from the USSSA rule book. If you have any questions, please let me know.
Sec. 8. A SHOE shall be considered legal if it is made with either leather or canvas uppers or similar materials. The soles may have soft or hard rubber cleats. Metal cleats are prohibited. Shoe sole or heel projections other than the standard shoe plate are prohibited. The all-purpose molded cleat softball shoe is legal. All Players must wear shoes.

The work party has been scheduled for April 24, 2010 and will run from 7:30am to 11:30am. I will send out another email later this week as I have a few logistical details to work out. The county will have a representative available to direct the tasks that need to be done.
League fees are $525 + a $50 charge from the county. This fee will be waived if your team is represented at the work party.
Try and make it. Your team will save a few dollars. Better yet, your participation will make our fields a better place to play.

The umpire clinic has been scheduled for April 24, 2010. Class training will be from 9:30am to 1:30pm, field training from 1:30pm to about 4:00pm (yes, there will be a lunch break.) I.m going to schedule a meeting room at the municipal complex in White Rock for the classroom training, and will schedule XL for the field training. I.ll send out another email as a reminder over the week end, and update any details that may change.
I.m looking for two teams who would like to scrimmage on April 24, from 2:30pm . 3:30pm and give the umpires some real life experience. If you are interested in playing, please let me know as soon as you can. Men or women, fist two teams to respond will get to play a fun, very well called game.

I should have information from the county this week in regards to the work parties. I have some notes from the meeting held last Thursday and will be sending this out soon.
We will have a tournament on May 1 and 2. Regular season play will begin May 10.

It.s that time again; softball season will be getting started in a few short weeks.
Some important dates (and these are tentative, used for planning)
Coaches/Managers meeting:
If you will be coaching/managing/representing a team, please plan on attending the kick-off meeting. March 25, 2010, @5:30 pm . 7:00 pm. White Rock Municipal Complex . We.ll discuss fees, rules and other related information. Official signup sheets and roasters will be provided.
April 2010, I.m trying to block out times for team practices, I.ll have more information soon on how to schedule fields for practice.
May 1 and May 2 (Saturday and Sunday) well have a tournament.
I.m looking for volunteers interested in umpiring regular season games. If you are interested, please let me know. We.ll be holding a workshop sometime in April.
I need some help scheduling games. If you.re up for this task, please let me know.
